| Monotype Printmaking Classes |
Create Unique and Dynamic Prints in Just 6 Weeks
|
Monotype is the easiest, most spontaneous and joyful type of printmaking. Its simplicity and directness have inspired artists from Edgar Degas, (who is credited with “inventing” the technique) to such contemporary virtuosos as Jasper Johns and Richard Diebenkorn. Monotype is more akin to painting than most other printmaking techniques because many of the tools used to create the print are the same, which is why monotype is often called the painterly print. |

As its name implies, the process results in just one unique print, not multipe prints in an edition as most other types of printmaking such as etching. We will be using basic techniques that are easily learned and are very adaptable to a wide variety of styles and imagery. Both novice artists and more experienced printmakers are welcome, and all students will receive plenty of one-on-one attention and access to the press. |
|

About Richard Bolingbroke:
I firmly believe that we can all learn to create art.
I learned montype printmaking from Tron Bykle and Robin Kaneshiro at City College. Together with my life-drawing classes with Diane Olivier, this is my only formal art education.
Our art skills are innate and the challenge is to access them.
My prints and watercolors have been shown internationally, and I work full-time as an artist. Please see my biography in the Resume menu above for more details.
Course Reservations:
The course costs $300 (including most materials) and a non-refundable $50 deposit is required to hold a place. Checks and credit cards are accepted.
